    Museum exhibit “Writing With Pictures” in Escondido, CA:

    July 11th- September 13th. The Museum at California Center for the Arts, Escondido displays 8 of my original paintings and several of my sketches and sketchbooks as part of their WRITING WITH PICTURES exhibit, guest curated by Joy Chu.

    The show includes an incredible breadth of work by an astounding number of children’s illustrators at a really cool and special museum! More info:

  • Cat pile!

    Ok, ok! You asked and I heard you! My cat pile onesie design is now available in grown-up sizes. (Ladies sizes, anyway – more sizes coming soon!) and toddler / kid sizes, too!

    As of May 7th, I have 5 paintings in an art show at BRISBANE POWERHOUSE! My first show in Australia!

    Thrilled about this announcement in Publishers Weekly: My next book with author Jennifer Ward in the “What Will Hatch?” series – “What Will Grow?” – is signed and slated to be released in 2017! Yes, that’s how long it takes to make a picture book!

    Last weekend, I was a guest artist at the Monster Drawing Rally at a museum in Balboa Park curated by Low Gallery. Next weekend (4/25), I’ll be leading a sketchbook-making workshop and sketch crawl to benefit Habitat for Humanity.     Winter is coming

    I have art shows and events coming up around the US I want to tell you about.     Sunday, November 2nd: I’ll be signing copies of the newly released anthology: Hello Kitty, Hello 40 at 1pm and 4pm at Hello Kitty Con in Los Angeles! I fully expect this event to be completely bananas. tickets + buy the new book!

    Saturday, November 7th: My artwork will show in Good Mail Day, an exhibit of affordable, one-of-a-kind, postcard-sized artworks by over 60 artists, curated by my good friend Lisa Solomon, at artstream in Dover, NH

    November 22nd: My artwork comes to life in an animated flip book I’ve created for grumpybert‘s FlipBooKit themed show! 82 Bond St. Brooklyn, NY 11217

    December 13th: Shop with me in person here in San Diego at Handmade Holiday at the San Diego Central Library, a craft market and festival benefit for our local library! (Psst, I’m also one of the show organizers!)

    If in the San Diego area, be sure to swing by The Original Art at the William D. Cannon Gallery in Carlsbad, CA to see original children’s book illustrations from award winning artists internationally. I’m thrilled to have six pieces in the show, which closes on November 23rd.

    My illustrations are on the cover of UCSD’s Fall Extension Course Catalog, and throughout their Children’s Illustration Brochure; upcoming work in Vegetarian Times and Souris Hong-Porretta’s Outside The Lines coloring book series, a new collection of Madison Park Greeting cards, and a new collection of iPop magnets in the works, and more!

    Keep an eye out for my secret note to you in the latest Uppercase Magazine on the theme of calligraphy (love that publication)!
